Owners of small websites often face a choice: pay for an expensive cloud live-chat service with its own dashboard and a monthly fee, or skip chat entirely and lose visitors who aren't ready to call or email. Website Chat in Centrio is a third option — the widget goes on your site for free via a code snippet, and visitor messages land directly in the app where your other work messengers are already open.
Connect it in 4 steps
- Create your website chat. Settings → "Website Chat" → enter the domain the widget will run on. The domain is required for verification — the widget refuses to run on a site it wasn't issued for.
- Configure the appearance. Pick the widget's primary color and, if you want, upload your own logo instead of the default one — the chat should look like part of your site, not a bolted-on third-party widget.
- Copy the widget code. The generated JavaScript snippet goes right before the closing </body> tag on your site — this works for sites where installing your own script is allowed; check your site builder's restrictions and script-loading policy first.
- Get messages inside the app. Once the code is live, "Website Chat" shows up as a separate messenger tab in Centrio's sidebar — new visitor messages arrive there just like in any other messenger, with a notification and sound.
What the widget can do
Colored avatars for each visitor: every site visitor gets a unique avatar color, so you can tell conversations apart at a glance without reading the name.
Search and filter conversations: when you get a lot of inquiries, you can quickly find the right conversation by name, contact, or the content of the last message.
Saved quick replies: for common questions — about shipping, payment, business hours — you can reply with one click using a saved template instead of typing the answer every time.
Timestamp shown inline: the time is displayed right next to the message text, not just on hover, so you never have to guess how long ago someone wrote.
Frequently asked questions
How many websites can I connect to one account?
In the current version, one website per account. Support for multiple sites may be added in a future update if there's enough demand.
Is the chat widget visible to mobile visitors?
Yes, the widget is a responsive web component that displays correctly on both desktop and mobile browsers.
Do I need to keep my computer running to receive messages?
Centrio needs to be running (it can be minimized to the tray) for messages to arrive with an immediate notification. Since this is an alpha feature, separately verify that messages are still delivered after you close and reopen the app, and don't rely on it as your only urgent channel until you've confirmed that.
Is Website Chat a Pro feature?
Yes, it's a paid feature marked as alpha — it's under active development, and you can report any bugs you find to support.
Testing after setup
Open the published page as a visitor in a different browser and send a test message. Reply from Centrio, then refresh the visitor's page. Repeat from a phone, and check that the chat button doesn't cover important elements of your site.
Double-check the exact domain, including the www variant, your site's policy on loading external scripts, and whether your site builder allows pasting custom code. If the widget doesn't appear, first confirm the change was published and check for ad blockers in the visitor's browser.
