Why an assistant belongs inside a messenger aggregator
A familiar scenario: a long message arrives in English, or packed with detail — you copy the text, open a tab with a chatbot, paste it in, wait for a reply, copy it back. That's a separate window and a separate context switch every time. Centrio's assistant lives in the same right-hand panel as Notes and Tasks — it opens with a single button, right on top of the active chat.
Three connection modes
- Your own key: OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, Google Gemini and others — you paste your own API key into Settings and pay the provider directly, based on usage. Full control over the model and the cost, and the key is stored only on your device.
- Local: the model connects through a local server, such as LM Studio or Ollama. If the server uses only a local model with no cloud forwarding, request processing stays on your computer. Check the server's address and its own settings — the mode's name alone doesn't confirm there's no external connection.
- Our model (Pro): a ready-to-use Centrio model with no keys, no servers and nothing to install — included with the Pro subscription. Open the assistant and start typing, no additional setup needed.
What's actually worth asking it
- Unread summary: hand the assistant the relevant slice of a conversation and ask it to pull out decisions, open questions and deadlines. Don't assume it automatically read every unread message on its own.
- Reply drafts: give the assistant the gist of an incoming message and get a ready reply in the right language and tone — just send it or tweak it.
- Translating a conversation: a chat in another language gets translated right inside the assistant panel — no copying text into a separate translator and back.
- Quick math and explanations: from currency and percentage conversions to explaining an unfamiliar term in a message someone sent you — the assistant sits in the same panel as your chats, no switching required.
How to turn it on in 2 minutes
- Open Settings → "AI assistant"
- Pick a mode: your own key, local, or the ready-made Pro model
- For your own key — paste the provider's API key and choose a model
- Click the assistant icon in the right-hand panel and ask your first question
FAQ
Can the assistant see messages from all my messengers?
The assistant answers whatever you show or describe to it — it doesn't scan your chats automatically in the background without your involvement. It's a separate panel, not a bot embedded inside every messenger.
Do I need Pro to use the assistant?
No — the "Your own key" and "Local" modes are available on the free plan; you just need your own API key or a local server. The ready-made Centrio model with zero setup is a Pro feature.
Where do my messages go when I use my own key?
Straight to the provider you chose (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) via their own API — the same as if you'd contacted their service yourself. Check that provider's own storage and processing terms, and Centrio's privacy policy.
Can I switch modes or models later?
Yes, at any time — the "AI assistant" section in Settings. Switching between modes and models doesn't require reinstalling anything or losing your history.
How to check an answer before you send it
Ask it to separate facts drawn from the text you gave it from its own assumptions. For a summary, a useful format is: decision, owner, deadline, and open questions. If that information isn't in the text, the assistant shouldn't invent it.
Double-check names, amounts, dates and any promise made to a client. For currency or other figures that change over time, supply a current source yourself — having an AI panel doesn't guarantee access to today's exchange rate.
Don't send secrets or someone else's private conversation to a provider without the necessary permission. An API key and a local server each carry their own limits and costs — a free app plan doesn't make a paid API free.
